PUBLIC HEARING
November 10, 1986
7:00 p.m.
The meeting was called to order at 7 :00 p.m. by Vice
Chairman Roehl with Burton, Hansey, Johnson, Muenscher and Warner
present. Hawley joined the meeting at 7:10 p.m.

Vice Chairman Roehl opened the public hearing.

Whatcom County Clerk's Office
Testified against the proposal to create a part -time Court
Administrator position by adding court administration duties on a
half -time basis to the position of Assigned Counsel. Stated that
the work could not be done adequately by someone working half-
time; the duties in question are currently being performed
efficiently by the Clerk's Office; and the proposal would
eventually cost the County more money because additional support
staff and other costs would have to be added.
There was discussion among the Council and Ms. Piccolo on this
issue.
No one else asked to testify, and the hearing was recessed
until 7 :30 p.m.
The hearing reconvened at 7 :30 p.m. There was no further
testimony, and the hearing was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
