SPECIAL MEETING
April 23, 1987
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Council
Chair Burton with Hansey, Muenscher and Warner present.
PUBLIC HEARING
RESOLUTION APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
BLOCK GRANT FUNDS AND CERTIFYING THE CONDITIONS OE THE
APPLICATION
The public hearing was opened.
Dan Taylor, Whatcom County Planning Director, and Bill
Geyer, Director of Planning and Development for the City of
Bellingham, explained the purpose of the grant and the goals they
hoped to achieve through it. Discussion followed on various
aspects of the program.
Wayne Schwandt, Director, Fourth Corner Development Group,
discussed the need in Whatcom County for the type of funding
provided by the grant.
Hiroshi Takaki, TransformerCad, testified to the
effectiveness of financing provided through block grant funds,
which he had obtained for his own business.
There was no further testimony and the hearing was closed.
WARNER MOVED TO APPROVE THE RESOLUTION AND AUTHORIZE THE
EXECUTIVE PRO TEM TO APPLY FOR THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE BLOCK GRANT
FUNDS.
There was discussion on the motion.
The motion carried unanimously.
The meeting Was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
