PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE
September 17, 1987
The meeting was called to order at 6 :30 p.m. by Committee
Chair Johnson with Hansey present. Also present were Ed Henken,
County Engineer; Paul Rushing, Public Works; and Jim Holz.
COUNTY LANDEILL Al LAND CORNER LAUREL RO AND GUIDE ME I I
Jim Holz explained his complaint about a county landfill at
the corner of the Laurel Road and the Guide Meridian. He said
that the main problems were with unauthorized use of the dump;
use of the site for other activities such as drug selling; and
lack of weed control.
Public Works Director Paul Rushing outlined the steps the
administration planned to take to alleviate the problems,
including fencing the area and the application of herbicides.
ORDINANCE REGARDING THE MATTER OF PLACING STOP SIGNS ON AI
ENS ROAD AND BIRCH TERRACE PLAU
Ed Henken explained the ordinance.
HANSEY MOVED TO RECOMMEND ADOPTION OF THE ORDINANCE, SUBJECT
TO THE OUTCOME OF THE PUBLIC HEARING.
The motion carried.
RESOLUTION SETTING A SPECIAL ELECTION WITHIN THE CITY OF SUMA,S TQ
DETERMINE IF THE CITX QF SUMAS SHALL BE ANNEXED INTO THE RURAL
LIBRARY DISIRIC�
HANSEY MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE RESOLUTION.
The motion carried.
LETTER FROM NEPTUNE BEACH WATER ASSOCIATION REQUESTING LOWER
SPEED LIMIT ON SUCIA DRIVE
Hansey referred the letter which he had received to Ed
Henken for evaluation.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
