HomeMy WebLinkAboutPublic Services March 5 1987WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE March 5, 1987 The meeting was called to order by Committee Chair Johnson at 6 :30 p.m. with Hawley present. Also present were Council member Dan Warner; Chief Civil Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Randy Watts; Engineer Ed Henken; Paul Rushing and Marlen Hansen of Public Works; Syd Wallace; Forest Stremler; and J.J. Overstreet. ORDINANCE REGARDING THE LEGAL ESTABLISHMENT OF EXISTING STOP SIGNS ON COUNTY ROADS Ed Henken explained the need for the ordinance. HAWLEY MOVED TO RECOMMEND ADOPTION OF THE ORDINANCE. The motion carried. DISCUSSION OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE TO DESIGNATE ALL COUNTY ROADS AS 35 M.P.H. ZONES UNLESS OTHERWISE POSTED. There was discussion among the Committee and others present concerning the proposed ordinance. Forest Stremler and J.J. Overstreet explained their concerns about the effect the ordinance might have on their businesses. Syd Wallace of Pt. Roberts pointed out a possibly hazardous intersection in Pt. Roberts, and requested installation of a flashing warning light. Ed Henken agreed to look into the problem. HAWLEY MOVED TO PASS ON THE ORDINANCE TO THE FULL COUNCIL FOR INTRODUCTION.
