PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE
June 4, 1987
The meeting was called to order by Committee Chair Johnson
at 6:30 p.m. with Hansey present. Also present were Ed Henken,
Engineer; Paul Rushing, Public Works; Neil Clements, KGMI; and
Glynnis Christie, All- Points Bulletin.
DISCUSSION OF SUMAS RIVER DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT DIST IC ELECTION
RESULT'S
Ed Henken explained possible alternatives available to the
Council in the aftermath of the failure of the election to form
the Sumas River Drainage Improvement District, including the
possibility of reactivating the old Flood Control District.
Henken said that he would contact the former commissioners of the
district, tell them that this item would be back on the next
Public Services Committee agenda, and advise them to let the
Committee know if there is support for the idea.

The motion carried.

NAJIB M. BOULOS FOR BEN'S GENERAL STORE, 490 IYEE DRIVE, POINT
ROBERTS, WASHINGTON
HANSEY MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE APPLICATION.
The motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 6 :47 p.m.
