PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE
July 2, 1987
The meeting was called to order at 6 :30 p.m. by Committee
Chair Johnson with Hawley present. Hansey arrived at 6:52 p.m.
Also present were Bob Jurica, Engineering; Paul Rushing, Public
Works; Gary Nelson, PNB; and Jim White, Con -Tel.
ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE INSTALLATION, MAINTENANCE AND
PROJECTION 0 BER OPTIC CABLE SYSTEMS WITHIN COUN Y RIGH -OF-
WAYS. EASEMENT'S AND COUNIX -OWNED PROPERTY
Jim White of Con -Tel gave a presentation concerning fiber
optic cable systems. He discussed with the Committee some of the
major concerns which have been expressed about the use of fiber
optic cable, and some of the advantages it has over the old types
of cable. He also requested an amendment to the ordinance
concerning the definition of metal- armored cable.
HAWLEY MOVED TO RECOMMEND ADOPTION OF THE SUBSTITUTE
ORDINANCE, PENDING THE OUTCOME OF THE PUBLIC HEARING, WITH THE
ADDITION, ON LINE 22, OF THE EXPLANATION THAT METAL ARMORED
"SHALL MEAN THE METAL SHIELD WITHIN THE OUTSIDE CABLE SHEATH."
The motion carried.

AND SWIMMING
Hansey explained the need for the ordinance, and discussion
followed.
HANSEY MOVED TO RECOMMEND ADOPTION OF THE ORDINANCE PENDING
THE OUTCOME OF THE PUBLIC HEARING.
The motion carried.
The meeting Was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
