PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
March 4, 1987
The meeting was called to order by Committee Chair Muenscher
at 2 :00 p.m. with Warner present. Also present were Dan Taylor
and Diane Harper of the Planning Department; Bill Trimm; Bob
Tull; and Roger Almskaar.
ORDINANCE M N NG TITLE 20, THE OFFICIAL H CO COUNTX ZONING
ORDINANCE
ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 20, THE OFFICIAL WHATCOM COUNTX ZONING
ORDINANCE, TEXT TO RESQLVE PROBLEMS OF ADMINISTRATION AND PROVIDE
FOR ADDITIONAL USES IN CERTAIN DISTRICTS
Diane Harper reviewed those substantive amendments contained
in the ordinances which had not already been discussed at the
previous Planning and Development Committee meeting, as well as
changes made at the request of the Committee to the regulations
concerning temporary dwelling units during construction of a
permanent unit.
There was discussion on the amendments. Warner raised an
objection to Section 20.80.250(3), concerning size and height of
off - premise advertising signs.
WARNER MOVED TO RECOMMEND ADOPTION OF THE ORDINANCES WITH
THE EXCEPTION OF THE AMENDMENT CONCERNING SIZE AND HEIGHT OF OFF -
PREMISE ADVERTISING SIGNS, AND TO SEEK LEGAL OPINION ON THE
COURSE TO FOLLOW IN EXCEPTING AMENDMENTS.
The motion carried.
REVIEW PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING OPEN SPACE
APPLICATIONS OF EHLE, ANDERSON, DIKE (TIMBERLAND), HOLLEMAN AND
HOY OPEN SPACE).
Dan Taylor explained that the Anderson and Holleman
applications had been withdrawn, and that the Planning Commission
had recommended approval of the other three applications.
WARNER MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE EHLE, PIKE, AND
HOY APPLICATIONS.
The motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:25 p.m.
