PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
February 18, 1987
The meeting began at 4:30 p.m. with Johnson and Muenscher
present. Also present were Dan Taylor and Diane Harper of the
Planning Department.
REORGANIZATION OF COMMITTEE: ELECT CHAIR AND CONFIRM PERMANENT_
MEETING TIME
JOHNSON MOVED THAT MUENSCHER BE ELECTED COMMITTEE CHAIR.
The motion carried.
Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. on Council meeting weeks was set as
the regular meeting time for the Committee.
DISCUSSION WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF BOARD OF REALTORS
The discussion was cancelled.
PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION REGARDING THE DENNIS SORENSON
OPEN SPACE /TIMBERLAND TRANSFER APPLICATION.
Dan Taylor explained the circumstances of the application,
and there was discussion by the Committee.
JOHNSON MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE APPLICATION WITH
THE CONDITIONS RECOMMENDED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION.
The motion carried.
ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 20, THE OFFICIAL WHATCOM COUNTY ZONING
ORDINANCE.
Diane Harper reviewed the substantive changes which were
proposed for the ordinance. The Committee expressed concern with
the proposed Section 20.20.104, which would allow temporary
dwelling units to be occupied on site during construction of
permanent dwellings. The Committee felt that the provision that
the temporary dwellings be not less than 150 square feet in size
was too restrictive. Harper and Taylor said that they would
develop alternative size specifications.
The ordinance was held in the Committee for further review.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
