Hansey arrived at 3:08 p.m. Also present were Shirley Van Zanten, Executive; Tom Sutberry; Budget Director; Bob Jordan, Treasurer; Larry Mount and Doug Gill, Sheriff's Department; Harold Raymond, Personnel; Glen Kiep, Maintenance and Operations; and Linda Parks, Public Works. ORDINANCE TO REVISZ E 1987 CURRENT EXPENSE FUND JAIL BUDGE THEREIN The Committee discussed the ordinance with Larry Mount and Doug Gill. Particular attention was given to the amount spent on prisoners' medical expenses, and the possibility of obtaining a higher percentage of reimbursement for such expenses. ~ r ROEHL MOVED TO RECOMMEND ADOPTION OF THE ORDINANCE. The motion carried. ROEHL MOVED THAT THE COMMITTEE SEND TO THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY'S OFFICE A REQUEST FOR A BRIEFING ON COLLECTION EFFORTS FOR EXTRAORDINARY MEDICAL EXPENSES INCURRED IN THE JAIL FOR BOTH FUGITIVES AND WHATCOM COUNTY PRISONERS. The motion carried. ORDINANCE TO REVISE HE J987 CURREN1 EZEENSES FUND, SUERIEEIS BUDGET THERF.J The Committee discussed the ordinance with Shirley Van Zanten, Larry Mount and Doug Gill. ROEHL MOVED TO RECOMMEND ADOPTION OF THE ORDINANCE. The motion carried. ORDINANCE TO REVISE THE 1987 NORTHWEST WASHINGTON FAIR FUND APPROPRIATION Tom Sutberry explained the ordinance. HANSEY MOVED TO RECOMMEND ADOPTION OF THE ORDINANCE. The motion carried. October 12, 1987 Page 2 ORDINANCE DIRECTING THE USE OF PROCEEDS OF CERTAIN CERB LOANS TO PAY COSTS INCURRED WITHIN THE LOCAL AND ROAD IMEROVEMENT DISTRICI N0, 9 AND PROVIDING FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT OF SUCH COSTS FROM ASSESSMENTS LEVIED I H LOCAL AND ROAD IMPROVEMENT DISIRICI NO, The Committee discussed the ordinance, and concluded that it should be considered at the November 5 Council meeting with other related ordinances. ROEHL MOVED TO RECOMMEND ADOPTION OF THE ORDINANCE AT THE NOVEMBER 5 COUNCIL MEETING. The motion carried. EXECUTIVE ITEMS REQUEST FOR AUTHORIZATION TO SIGN LABOR CONTRACTS FOR THE DZEUI PR CU TING ATIORNEYS AND FOR THE NO -B LL CARE CENTER EMPLOYEES Shirley Van Zanten distributed the Nor -Bell contract, and explained that the Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys' contract was not yet ready. Discussion followed. ROEHL MOVED TO RECOMMEND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE TO ENTER INTO THE CONTRACT FOR THE NOR -BELL CARE CENTER EMPLOYEES. The motion carried. BID AWARD RECOMMENDATION FOR A ONE -TON CAB AND CHASSIS TRUCE{ I THE LOW BIDDER, BELLINGHAM CHRYSLER CEN R FOE A DODGE D-35 0 TRUCK AT A TOTAL BID OF $11.800.871 INCLUDING SALES TAB The Committee discussed the bid award recommendation with Glen Kiep. ROEHL MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE BID AWARD. The motion carried.
