Also present were Shirley Van Zanten, Executive; Joan Ogden, Auditor; Tom Sutberry, Finance Director; Paul Rushing, Public Works; Glen Kiep, Fleet Manager; Nat Dickinson, Purchasing; Neil Clements, KGMI; and representatives from the Bellingham Herald and Westside Record - Journal. BID AWARD CO D H AUDITQB CQNQERNING 1HE QUICIAL COUNIX NEWSEAPER Ogden presented to the Committee the bids received from the Bellingham Herald and Westside Record - Journal. The relative merits of the two bids were discussed. ROEHL MOVED TO RECOMMEND ACCEPTANCE OF THE BID FROM THE WESTSIDE RECORD - JOURNAL. The motion carried. After further discussion, the Committee decided to hold the matter in committee pending further research into past publishing costs and the projected charges which would result from the terms offered by each bidder. i � • � 1 •' •' X11 • Ogden explained her office's need for additional staffing. The Committee agreed with the Auditor's assessment of her need for additional staff, but stated that due to lack of funds they could not recommend granting the request. ROEHL MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE BID AWARDS. The motion carried. HANSEY MOVED THAT THE COMMITTEE GO INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS THE SEATTLE CITY LIGHT CONTRACT AND LABOR NEGOTIATIONS. The motion carried.
