The meeting was called to order by Chairman Hansey at 7:05
p.m. with Burton; Hawley, Muenscher and Warner present.
DISCUSSION OF HAROLD RAYMOND'S REPORT ON PUBLIC WORKS ENGINEERING
CLASSIFICATION
The report and related documents were reviewed and discussed
briefly while the Committee waited for Wayne Schwandt.
PRESENTATION BY WAYNE SCHWANDT OF REVISED AMENDMENTS TO THE
WHATCOM COUNTY SHORELINE MASTER PROGRAM
Wayne Schwandt, Director of the Fourth Corner Development
Group, distributed updated copies of the proposed Cherry Point
Amendments to the Whatcom County Shoreline Management Program.
The proposed amendments had been modified based on comments
received from state agencies in response to the original draft of
the amendments.
Mr. Schwandt reviewed the modifications as they appeared
throughout the document, explaining the reasons for the changes
and responding to questions from Council members. Following his
review, there was further discussion among the Committee and Mr.
Schwandt about issues surrounding the proposed amendments.
It was agreed that if any further changes were needed to the
amendments Mr. Schwandt would arrange to review those changes
with the Planning and Development Committee, with the goal of
having a final draft before the Council at its first meeting in
February.
