COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
August 27, 1987
The meeting was called to order by Acting Chair Warner at
7:10 p.m. with Hansey, Hawley, Johnson, Muenscher and Roehl
present.
DISCUSSION QE WHAIC COUNTY BUDGE1 PRIORIIIES EOR 199
The Committee discussed the 1988 budget with Executive Van
Zanten and Budget Director Sutberry, and arrived at the following
priorities:
1. Maintenance of current service levels.
2. Capital improvements, with finishing the jail basement
receiving first priority in this category.
3. Continue planning for juvenile detention facility.
4. Storage space and information retrieval.
There was also general agreement on the following concepts:
1. No action should be taken which precludes development
of an administrative center outside the present
Courthouse building.
2. The Council should reconsider its position on the
siting of the juvenile detention facility, and plan
to take action on this issue.
3. The administration should review the staffing situation
and advise the Council of any emergency which might
require additional hirings.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:37 P.M.
