HomeMy WebLinkAboutPublic Services October 20 1988WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL PUBLIC SERVICES COMMITTEE MINUTES October 20, 1988 The meeting was called to order at 6 :05 p.m. by Marvin Vanderpol, with Emily Jackson present. Councilman Corky Johnson arrived late. Engineer Ed Henken said his department recommended denial of this petition. Said McAfee (pronounced "MA -ca- fee") should go to Superior Court and prove that this road has never been used, then it would be vacated to him free of charge. Or maybe an encroachment permit would be acceptable. Floyd Sandell of Bakerview Road said he does not want it vacated. Two other land owners have made it known they think they would be landlocked if the road Is vacated. Also, Henken said eventually the County may want to use that road as a connector to the Mount Baker Highway. JACKSON MOVED TO TABLE THE ITEM INDEFINITELY, UNTIL REPORT RECEIVED FROM ENGINEERING ON THIS MATTER. Motion carried. In"Malinelo -• - ,1- Jay Fjellman, who owns property along the recently -named "Harmony Rose Lane," complained about the public notice on that issue. Said the name is not really appropriate for the area. Vanderpol said the Committee would take the issue of better public notice under advisement, but nothing was done about Mr. Fjellman's complaint about the name.
