SPECIAL MEETING
November 13, 1989
The meeting was brought to order at 4:45 p.m. in the Council Conference Room
by Council Chairman Don Hansey.

The Council discussed the vacant position of Hearing Examiner, due to Chuck
Snyder's appointment as Superior Court Commissioner. A selection committee, made up
of Planning Director Dan Taylor, Jerry Mixon of Buildings and Code, Carolyn Herron
of Personnel, Snyder, and Hearing Examiner secretary Carol Ortner, had screened the
27 applications and interviewed six people. The top four candidates were sent to the
Council for final approval. The Council had interviewed the top four candidates in
executive session November 9.
Council members discussed the options available, and whether the position should
be for full -time or contracted services.
Roehl asked the Clerk to talk with Mike Bobbink, a candidate (not a finalist) who
offered his services on a contract basis, Ortner, Taylor, Mixon, and others to gather their
opinions on the "contract vs. full time" issue. Other Council members agreed that this
should be done.
The meeting adjourned at about 5:30 p.m.
