PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
October 16, 1989
The meeting was called to order at 1:10 p.m. by Will Roehl
with Emily Jackson present. Committee Chairman Tom Burton was
absent. Also present were: Dan Taylor, Planning; Larry Harris,
and Dick Fowler.
1. ORDINANCE IN THE MATTER OF RE- ADOPTION OF THE LAKE
WHATCOM SUBAREA COMPREHENSIVE PLAN DESIGNATIONS AND TITLE
20 ZONING DISTRICTS FOR THE URBAN DESIGNATIONS AND ZONES
IN THE SUBAREA, UPDATING THE ZONING MAP DESIGNATION AND
CLARIFYING THE ZONING MAP, THE DENSITY LIMITATIONS AND
TRANSFER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE URBAN RESIDENTIAL MEDIUM
DENSITY ZONE DISTRICT, AND MODIFYING WCC 20.22.252 TO
MORE CLEARLY REFLECT THE DENSITY RESTRICTIONS IN THE
URBAN RESIDENTIAL MEDIUM DENSITY DISTRICT
Taylor stated that the recommendation of the Planning
Commission and the Planning Department is to leave the plan and
zoning as is. This ordinance is to clarify the zoning map and
correct some designations; URM 12 districts on the old map would
have asterisks indicating either 3 units or 8 units per acre that
with transfers could go up to 10 units per acre. Mount Baker Bank
bought these tranfers in the Sudden Valley area in good faith and
deserve to be treated fairly.
JACKSON MOVES TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL TO COUNCIL.
Motion passes.
Meeting adjourns at 1:25 p.m.
