1. RESOLUTION AGREEING TO A MULTI -YEAR
REGIONAL STRATEGY FOR IMPLEMENTING THE
GROWTH MANAGEMENT ACT (AB90 -366)
Taylor, Planning Director, said that this needs to be passed by the City, County, and
two other entities in the County. (Apparently it was passed by the City last night.)
There was discussion about what would have to be adjusted if Initiative 547 is passed today
by the voters. Taylor said they would be doing the wetlands inventory for the whole county
except for Bellingham. Most of the money will be spent for critical areas; some. of it for
experts in the fields required. The Planning Department hopes to have the first part done
by July and will be ready to do the inventory after that. This will be the start of studying
the urban growth study (population urban study). He has the agreement from all the small
cities except Blaine; they just couldn't get it ready for tonight. They will all be signing inter -
local agreements signed by all entities.
JACKSON MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL TO THE COUNCIL.
Motion carried unanimously.
Taylor said that if Fourth Corner gets funding it will help this study as well; the
Planning Department hopes to have some money coming from a Department of Ecology
grant.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:23 p.m.
