HomeMy WebLinkAboutPlanning and Development February 7 1990WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE Special Meeting February 7, 1990 The meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m. in the Council Conference Room by Committee Chairperson Marge Laidlaw. Also Present: Absent: Don Hansey None Emily Jackson Laidlaw said Council had asked Planning and Development to work with staff to recommend appointments to the Shorelines Citizens' Advisory Committee (CAC), which will look at a limited area of the Shorelines Plan for further refinement. Planning Department presented a list of people interested in serving on Committee. Hansey said the Committee should discuss the types of people that should be included. Jackson said appointments should not be recommended until after more specific criteria is developed for membership. Laidlaw noted that recommendations for membership to the CAC should be presented to the Council on February 15. There was extensive discussion among Committee members. During the discussion, comments also were made by Planning Director Dan Taylor, Planner Terry Galvin, Planning Commission Larry Harris, Art Hyatt, Roger Almskaar and unidentified members of the audience. Eventually it was decided that the following categories of people should be considered for representation on the CAC, and that applicants from these categories should be sought prior to the Committee's next meeting: Friends of Lake Whatcom Friends of Chuckanut Building Industry Assn. Bd. of Realtors Tribe /Fisheries Point Roberts (Lilly Point) Governor's Point Planning Commission 1970s Shoreline Committee - 1 person - 1 person - 1 person - 1 person - 1 person - 2 people (pro and con) - 2 people (pro and con) - 2 members - 1 person And people with general interest in shorelines P &D minutes, 2/7/90, Page 2 Laidlaw directed staff to advertise that the Committee would like names of people in these categories who are interested in serving on the CAC. At the Committee meeting at 1 p.m. Monday, February 12, names of applicants will be considered and the types of people serving on the Committee will be decided upon. There was some discussion.
