PUBLIC HEARING
Minutes
October 27, 1980
Meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. with all Council
members present but Donnellan. The purpose of the hearing was
for citizen input into the .County Executive's proposed 1981 Budget
and Federal Revenue Sharing distribution; hearing held as required
by Home Rule Charter Section 6.60.
Thirteen people testified on various matters.
Evelyn Nowicki spoke requesting F.S.R. money to be appropriated
for the purpose of Swift Creek cleaning.
Roger Simonson and Fred Nowicki spoke against Parks cuts.
Colleen Bates and Rod MacKenzie.spoke, asking for the total
amount of F.S.R. that Whatcom County Crisis Services had originally
requested, an additional $12,600, and giving the scope of services
WCCS offers.
Charles Cross spoke for Sun Community Services requesting
more revenue sharing money, specifically, the full amount they
had requested of $14,196.
Ron Riggins, Carolyn Jonson, Janet Hayes, Fred Nowicki, Colleen
Bates, Bill Mannegan, Eric Johnson, Evelyn Nowicki, Bruce Freeman
and Christine Chider all had questions and points of clarification
on parts of the proposed budget which Council answered.
There was discussion on probably holding another public hearing
on the budget, after the Finance Committee makes their proposal for
Council consideration. A tentative date mentioned.was November 24.
