1. DISCUSSION WITH ACME WATER DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS
REGARDING THE DISTRICTS CLAIM FOR FEMA FUNDS TO REPAIR
LAST WINTER'S FLOOD DAMAGE (AB91 -333)
Sarah Galbraith and Howard Rothenbuhler, Water Commissioners from Acme: Outlined
the problem from their point of view. They are trying to obtain FEMA funding for damage
sustained to the water system when the Jones Creek flooded last November. Somehow the
necessary paper work did not get done, though the water district thought it had followed the
required procedure. Now they have bills to pay for repairs and no money.
Dan Fitzgerald, EMS Office, and Terry Simmonds from FEMA were also present to help
clarify the situation and to cover the procedures required to obtain funds. Simmons,
however, did explore other channels for the District's needed when he found out
about the misunderstanding, but without success.
The Acme Water District services 89 customers; the bill comes to $157 each. (The
emergency repair was $11,000; $2 -3,000 needed to be done later.)
Simmons stated that he would do another search for funds that might be available to help
the District at this late date and would report back to Galbraith by Friday.
Considerable discussion of the problem and potential solutions followed.
Because there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
