WATER RESOURCES COMMITTEE
Tuesday, March 24, 1992
The meeting was called to order at noon in the Council Chambers, 1000 N. Forest,
2nd floor, by Chairperson Barbara Brenner.

1. DISCUSSION ABOUT SATELLITE SYSTEM MANAGEMENT AGENCIES, BY
WHATCOM COUNTY PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 1 (AB92 -146)
Topics discussed: Satellite system management (SSM), funding for small water
systems, levels of services a SSM agency could provide, the County's role in water service,
service interruption responsibility, the possibility of the state restricting well drilling in the
County, water quality testing, urgency of dealing with County's myriad of water sources and
certain problems, compliments to Kingsley and Anderson for the quality work of PUD.

2. PRESENTATION ON NOOKSACK TRIBAL WATER ISSUES, BY NOOKSACK
TRIBAL COUNCIL CHAIRMAN HUBERT WILLIAMS (TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED)

Topics discussed: Concerns about the Nooksack river regarding illegal dumping,
logging near the river, wildlife, the tribe's position on damming the river, removing certain
amount of debris from the waterway, dredging, effect on the fisheries, health concerns and
water quality.

3. DISCUSSION POINTS ON WATER ISSUES IN GENERAL (AB92 -148):
