Forest St., 2nd floor, by Barbara Brenner, Chairperson Also present: Bob Imhof Larry Harris Absent: 1. DISCUSSION WITH SUE BLAKE REGARDING THE PROPOSAL TO RESTORE THE LAKE WHATCOM WATERSHED TO ITS #2 RANKING UNDER THE RANKING PROCESS INITIATED BYWAC 400 -12 (AB92 -230) Topics discussed: Consequences (pros and cons) of re- ranking watersheds within the County; effects on other watersheds within the County; availability of Centennial Clean Water Funds; source of funds for updating the Subarea Comprehensive Plan; fit of current management process into the picture; other funding of programs; cost of re- ranking; requirements and process of re- ranking; Drayton Harbor's planning progress; the 400 Plan (WAC400 -12); membership requirements of watershed committees; time frames; meshing the various plans. Persons speaking: Sue Blake, Water Resource Manager; Becky Peterson, Council of Governments; Gail Dorf, Non -Point Manager, Dept, of Ecology; Brenner; Imhof; Harris. HARRIS MOVED TO RECOMMEND THAT LAKE WHATCOM WATERSHED 1:1 :6Met 1 z1.4 :3 After discussion, the motion was withdrawn. HARRIS MOVED THAT THE CHAIR WRITE A MEMO TO THE EXECUTIVE REQUESTING A PRESENTATION AT THE NEXT MEETING ON PURSUING A STUDY OF RE- RANKING LAKE WHATCOM AND POSSIBLE APPLICATION OF THE 400 PROCESS AND OTHER OPTIONS AVAILABLE SO THE COMMITTEE CAN DEBATE WHICH WOULD BE THE BEST MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR FUNDING. THE REPORT IS TO INCLUDE TIME FRAMES AND MILESTONES. THE COMMTTEE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOMETHING WRITTEN OUT FOR STUDY IN ADVANCE OF THE DISCUSSION. The motion carried unanimously.
