4 The meeting was called to order at 6 p.m. by Committee Chairman Robert Imhof in
5 the Council Chambers, 1000 N. Forest.

8 1. ORDINANCE REPLACING WHATCOM COUNTY CODE SECTION 9.32
9 REGARDING UNLAWFUL DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS AND BOW
10 AREAS (AB92 -032)
11 Imhof explained the changes that are being made to the original draft document.
12 Tom Brown, Mt. Baker Highway: He questioned whether the Council could
13 implement a no- shooting zone without acquiring the 60 percent signature. He asked what
14 would constitute a legal backstop and range; he also questioned if all county owned lands
15 will be subject to the restriction.
16 Bill Stinson, Hunting Manager, Yeagers: Expressed concern that areas such as Fazon
17 Lake could conceivably become no- shooting or no- hunting zones. He discussed the need
for exemption for chartered, organized club. He asked who would determine what would
.L9 constitute an appropriate backstop. He said there is a set of specification for home ranges
20 and he will provide it to the Council.
