HomeMy WebLinkAboutPublic Services December 8 1992WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL PUBLIC SERVICES AND SOLID WASTE COMMITTEE Regular Meeting December 8, 1992 The meeting was called to order at 5:45 p.m. by Committee Chairman Bob Imhof in the Council Chambers, 1000 N. Forest Street, Suite 203. Also Present: Absent: Dennis Vander Yacht None. Barbara Brenner 1. INTERIM ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH CONFORMITY WITH THE COUNTY ROAD ADMINISTRATION BOARD POLICY FOR ACCOMMODATION OF UTILITIES IN THE COUNTY ROAD RIGHT -OF -WAY (AB92 -445) Jeff Monsen, Director of Maintenance and Operations, explained the purpose of this proposed ordinance. He stated that the County Road Administration Board recommended that this model ordinance be adopted before the end of 1992; it originally had been the intent of Public Works to have the ordinance brought forward when development standards were introduced, but development standards have been delayed. The ordinance would serve as a chapter in the development standards, virtually as presented. He said this ordinance is an interim measure, and there is no rush for the Council to adopt it immediately. BRENNER MOVED TO RECOMMEND ADOPTION OF THE ORDINANCE. Motion carried unanimously. 2. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY'S OFFICE TO PROCEED WITH LEGAL ACTION TO ACQUIRE A PERMANENT EASEMENT OVER PROPERTY ON THE EAST SIDE OF LAKE WHATCOM (AB92 -470) Imhof asked if anyone was present to explain this request; no one came forward. Imhof briefly went through his understanding of the issues. Brenner commented. Chief Civil Deputy Prosecutor Randy Watts came into the room and gave a short explanation. He said the easement has not yet been created at this point. There was discussion. VANDER YACHT MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE RESOLUTION. Motion carried with Brenner opposed. 3.
