October 12, 1993
The meeting was called to order at 6:15 p.m. by Committee Chairman Bob Imhof
in the Council Chambers, 1000 N. Forest Street.

1. UPDATE ON THE LAND DISTURBANCE ORDINANCE PAMPHLET
(AB93400)
The land disturbance ordinance is based on Ordinances 90 -24 and 90 -58. Nate
Brown of Buildings and Code addressed the Committee on this matter. He distributed
some paperwork to the Committee (the Clerk did not receive a copy). Brown explained
the content of the proposed revised pamphlet and discussed the original ordinance upon
which it is based. Imhof, Brenner and Vander Yacht commented. Brown noted that the
development standards are being reviewed and will be brought forward for Council
action one chapter at a time.
Speakers: Art Castle, Building Industry Association, spoke about his views of the
land disturbance ordinance and the resulting interpretations by Buildings and Code;
Art Anderson, also representing the building industry; Rita Foley, Blue Canyon Road;.
Dick Gilda, resident of the Lake Whatcom Watershed. Brown discussed possible
amendments that could be made to the clearing ordinance(s). This item will be placed
on the next Committee agenda to discuss possible amendments to the clearing ordinance
language.
2. DISCUSSION OF POTENTIAL CHANGES IN THE COUNTY DOG
CONTROL ZONE ORDINANCE WITH ELENORE DOTY, HUMANE
SOCIETY (AB93 -401)
This item was not discussed and was postponed to another meeting.
