Also Present: Alvin Starkenburg Absent: Ken Henderson COMMITTEE DISCUSSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL 1. RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE CONSTRUCTION OF A CENTER- LINE MEDIAN ON THE GUIDE MERIDIAN (AB95 -260A) Vickie Woods, Planning Services, gave a brief introduction. She presented the committee with a substitute resolution and noted that the reason for the median is due to the access classification of the road (handout provided). Joel Pfundt, Council of Governments, presented information on road classification (handout provided). Some discussion took place regarding whether or not this resolution would interfere with the upcoming land use plan. Starkenburg moved to recommend the substitute resolution for approval. Motion carried 2 -0. 2. RESOLUTION CREATING A CITIZENS REVIEW COMMITTEE TO REVIEW POTENTIAL SALES OF COUNTY OWNED PROPERTY (AB95 -318) Brenner noted for the record receipt of a letter from Everett Thompson, Building Industry Association President, urging support of this Review Committee. 38 Barbara Cory, Treasurer, spoke to this issue, noting the inventory record is 39 incomplete. The interest in some of these properties is unknown, as it is not known if 40 the County has full title, if there are parcel restrictions, if they are being held in trust, 41 etc. When the interest in these properties becomes known and the, properties are sold, 42 the monies are then distributed to various tax industries; the question is who receives the 43 proceeds, the County and /or other tax industries? Cory reported answering this question 44 has been the major problem for her office. Public Works Minutes, 7/18/95, Page 1. 1 Cory requested this item be tabled for two weeks, as the Property Management 2 Committee meeting is tomorrow. Various ideas can be discussed at that meeting, and 3 Cory should have some thoughts for the next committee meeting. 4 5 Starkenburg moved to table this item for two weeks until August 1, 1995. 6 7 Motion carried 2 -0. 8 9 Bob Andersen, citizen, commented. 10 11 OTHER BUSINESS 12 13 1. UPDATE AND DISCUSSION REGARDING TRAFFIC CONCERNS 14 ON YORK STREET (AB95 -324) 15 16 Ed Henken, Engineering, noted the barricade is still in place. There is a 17 continued concern about the arterial traffic and safety. 18 19 Joe DeMarsh and Diane Michael, residents of the neighborhood, spoke to their 20 concern about the traffic.
