Also Present: Ken Henderson Alvin Starkenburg Absent: None COMMITTEE DISCUSSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL: 1. DISCUSSION WITH THE HUMANE SOCIETY DIRECTOR ABOUT STATUS AND REMEDIES FOR UNLICENSED PACKING AND MARAUDING DOGS ON FEE -LANDS (AB95 -113) Gary Mudridge, Director, Humane Society, gave a short presentation. He stated the main problem is that a dog is considered, by law, to be personal property. The Society's policy has been to detain only dogs known to be owned by non - Indians. He feels it is appropriate to detain an unlicensed /marauding dog found on County property. Once detained, the dog is owned by the Humane Society after 72 hours. A definitive answer needs to be met. Several suggestions were made. Mudridge said he will work with the tribe on this issue. He will contact Brenner within two weeks with a report on his progress. 2. PETITION FOR VACATION OF COUNTY ROAD #385, FILED BY MICHAEL WHITFIELD, ET AL (AB94 -582) (FROM 2/14) Ed Henken, Engineering, stated Dan Gibson, Prosecuting Attorney and Council's counsel, said this presents no legal problems. Starkenburg moved to recommend for approval with the condition that an amended legal description be provided the Council. The vacation will be from Shady Lane to Slater. Motion carried unanimously.
