The meeting was called to order at 1:30 p.m. by Committee Chair Barbara
Brenner in the Committee Room of the Council Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue.

COMMITTEE DISCUSSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL
1. DISCUSSION OF SPEED LIMIT REDUCTION ON DEAD -END
SECTION OF LINDSAY ROAD (AB95 -195)
Jeff Monsen, Public Works, spoke to this issue.
Starkenburg moved to have staff have sufficient time to make their analysis and
make their recommendation.
Motion carried unanimously.
2. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON THE ISSUE OF
SECURITY AT THE WHATCOM COUNTY COURTHOUSE (AB95-
153) (FROM 4/11)
Tom Sutberry, Administrative Services, spoke' to the Ad Hoc issues: signage;
location of a lock box for weapons; employee entrances to the stairwells; and the keyed
access only to the elevators for off -hours (available May 1). He noted that Skagit
County has requested proposals for courthouse screening from private security agencies,
so the Council will have an idea as to costs. Discussion followed.
