The meeting was called to order at 3 p.m. by Committee Chair Ward Nelson in
the Committee Room of the Council Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue.

COMMITTEE DISCUSSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL
1. DISCUSSION OF A PROPOSED ORDINANCE REDUCING OPEN SPACE
REQUIREMENTS IN LIGHT INDUSTRIAL PARKS (AB95 -070) (FROM 2/7)
Dawson explained her proposed ordinance.
Dan Taylor, Planning Department, spoke.
Dawson moved to recommend for approval.
Dawson withdrew her motion
Dawson moved to recommend for approval and to refer it to the Planning
Commission for further work, specifically to reduce open space required to 15 percent or
less.
Motion carried 2 -1 with Harris opposed.
Marty Snyder, Opportunity Council, spoke to the issue of affordable housing.
One of the options is a Community Block Grant, the deadline of which is April 14.
There is an urgent need to meet with various organizations to get focused on this issue.
Can the Opportunity Council work with /hire another organization to write the grant?
Snyder will return with a plan to present to the Council. This item will be scheduled for
the March 28 agenda.
