The meeting was called to order at 3:04 p.m. by Committee Chair Ward Nelson in
the Committee Room of the Council Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue.

COMMITTEE DISCUSSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL
1. ORDINANCE CONVERTING ACCESSORY DWELLINGS FROM
CONDITIONAL USES TO ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL USES,
MODIFYING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR LAKE WHATCOM AND
LUMMI ISLAND, CREATING AN ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL
SECTION FOR THE RESORT - COMMERCIAL ZONE, AND
MODIFYING THE REQUIREMENTS OF ADMINISTRATIVE
APPROVALS (AB95 -098) (FROM 3/28)
Nate Brown, Planning & Development Department, spoke on proposed language
and provided a handout.
Dan Taylor and Bill Florea, Planning & Development Department, commented.
Dawson moved to recommend amendment of the ordinance by increasing the
square footage from 1,000 to 1,300 square feet.
Motion carried 2 -1 with Harris opposed.
Dawson moved to recommend amendment on page 3 by deleting #6 entirely.
Motion carried 2 -1 with Harris opposed.

28 together for possible solutions.

38 Dawson moved to recommend for approval the following language: "Resolved
39 that the County will explore the possibilities of partnering with a non - profit housing
40 provider(s) to develop an affordable housing project(s). The first step of this process is
41 to identify what resources the County and other public and private parties can contribute
42 to such a project. The result will be identification of a project needs analysis and
43 resources available to implement it."
