Also Present: Ward Nelson Ken Henderson Absent: Larry Harris COMMITTEE DISCUSSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL 1. DISCUSSION WITH THE ADMINISTRATION REGARDING ESTABLISHING A COUNTY PROGRAM TO COMPLY WITH A DRAYTON HARBOR PROTECTION PLAN (AB95 -197) (FROM 5/23) Henderson noted the Department of Ecology's report has been received. Henderson moved to request the Administration present a summary of identified action items with a description of how those items address specific objectives, relative effectiveness, and associated costs. There was discussion on the motion. Speakers included: 27 Nate Brown, Planning & Development Services 28 Gail Dorf, State Department of Ecology 29 Shirley Van Zanten, County Executive 30 Bob Woods, Council Budget /Program Analyst 31 Bob Anderson, architect 32 Michael Freestone 33 34 Nate Brown, Planning & Development Services, clarified his department's role for 35 the committee (assist the Council in the decision - making process via a report). 36 37 Shirley Van Zanten, County Executive, was very concerned that the Department 38 of Ecology's (DOE) report was received just yesterday morning and that the DOE needs 39 to take responsibility and identify the problems. She noted that her department will take 40 only the minimum kind of sources of pollution that have been identified by Ecology and 41 do a schematic of what currently is in place to addresss those. She also stated there are 42 no resources to do any more than that. 43 44 Michael Freestone stated that sunsetting needs to be included in this plan.
