July 26, 1994
The meeting was called to order at 3 p.m. by Committee Chair Ward Nelson in
the Council Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue.

COMMITTEE DISCUSSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL:
1. ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE INTERIM ZONING ORDINANCE,
WHATCOM COUNTY CODE, CHAPTER 2.24A (FILE REF: # 18- 94IZO)
(AB94 -376)
Dawson moved to recommend for approval.
Motion carried unanimously.
2. REQUEST FOR A PUBLIC HEARING IN THE MATTER OF AMENDING
THE TEXT OF THE WHATCOM COUNTY ZONING CODE (WCC 20.36)
TO ALLOW COMMERCIAL RENTAL STORAGE AS AN OUTRIGHT
PERMITTED USE OR AN ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL USE IN THE
RURAL ZONE (AB94 -414)
Speakers: Nate Brown, Planning & Development Services, Ken Henderson,
Council Member and Jon Sitkin, P.S.
Dawson moved to go ahead with the public hearing regarding permitted use. She
also wants to see this item brought forward to the Council for review as a conditional
use, leaving out the "general commercial zone ", which makes it less restrictive.
Dawson withdrew her motion.
Harris moved to recommend remanding to Planning Commission.
Dawson moved to amend by deleting the wording to have the properties adjacent
to an existing general commercial zone.
Dawson then withdrew her motion.
