HomeMy WebLinkAboutFinance May 9 1995WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL Finance & Administrative Services Committee May 9, 1995 The meeting was called to order at 9:30 a.m. by Committee Chair Alvin Starkenburg in the Committee Room of the Council Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue. Also Present: Ward Nelson Marlene Dawson Absent: None COMMITTEE DISCUSSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL 1. RESOLUTION TO SELL SURPLUS PROPERTY (SHERIFF VEHICLES) (AB95 -165A) (FROM 4/25) Deanne Sandell, Sheriffs Office, requested postponement of two weeks for further negotiations regarding the bidding process. Ron Wilinga, City Cab, spoke. Nelson moved to table this issue for two weeks. Motion carried unanimously. 2. ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUDGET, REQUEST NO. 4 (AB95 -213) Dawson to recommend for approval. Motion carried unanimously. Tom Sutberry, Administrative Services, and Shirley Van Zanten, Executive, spoke briefly. 3. ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AN INTERFUND LOAN FOR THE COURTHOUSE SETTLEMENT (AB95 -182A) Nelson moved to recommend for approval. Motion carried unanimously. 4. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON SQUIRES LAKE ACQUISITION (AB95 -217) Finance Minutes, 5/9/95, Page 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 Rand Jack, Parks Land Trust Board, provided information on this item. Dawson moved to recommend for purchase with acquisition of Conservation Funds. Nelson offered a friendly amendment to limit the funds to $10,000 development costs. Starkenburg offered a friendly amendment to encourage the group to continue working with Skagit to ask them to participate fully in the development costs. Starkenburg moved to recommend for approval with a limit of $10,000 on the capital improvements within that area for development and strong encouragement for Skagit to participate in that project. Motion carried unanimously. 18 5. BID AWARD RECOMMENDATION FOR JAIL PRESCRIPTION 19 SERVICE TO THE LOW BIDDER, NORTH CAMPUS PHARMACY 20 FOR A TOTAL ESTIMATED ANNUAL AMOUNT OF $44,737.20 21 (AB95 -218) 22 23 N 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 Nat Dickinson, ADS /Finance, requested this item be withdrawn. OTHER BUSINESS Kurt Dessauer, ADA spokesman, had questions regarding Item 3 (courthouse settlement). Chair Starkenburg deferred his questions to Nat Dickinson.
