The meeting was called to order at 9:30 a.m. by Committee Chair Alvin
Starkenburg in the Council Committee Room, 311 Grand Avenue.

COMMITTEE DISCUSSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL
1. RESOLUTION TO SELL SURPLUS PROPERTY (SHERIFF
VEHICLES) (AB95 -165A) (FROM 5/23)
This item was withdrawn by the Sheriffs Department.
2. ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUDGET, REQUEST NO. 6 (AB95-
249)

There was discussion on this item.
Nelson moved to recommend for moving forward to the Council without
recommendation.
Motion carried unanimously.
3. DISCUSSION /ACTION ON THE WHATCOM COUNTY 1996 FERRY
RATE (AB95 -231)
Jeff Monsen, Public Works, briefly spoke.
Nelson moved to recommend for continuance of the current ferry rate schedule.

4. REQUEST BY THE WHATCOM COUNTY BOARD OF
EQUALIZATION FOR A PER DIEM PAY INCREASE FROM $75.00
TO $125.00 (AB95 -257)
Dana Brown- Davis, Council Clerk, spoke.
Dawson moved to recommend for denial of the request.
Motion carried unanimously.
COUNCIL "CONSENT AGENDA" ITEMS
1. BID AWARD RECOMMENDATION FOR JUVENILE COURT
PROBATION COMPUTER EQUIPMENT TO THE LOW BIDDER,
TECHNOLOGY EXPRESS, FOR $25,451.89 INCLUDING SALES TAX
(AB95 -263)
