FINANCE AND PERSONNEL COMMITTEE
March 1, 1994
The meeting was called to order at 9:35 a.m. by Chair Alvin Starkenburg in the
Council Chambers, 1000 North Forest Street.

1. BID AWARD RECOMMENDATION FOR FIVE 1/2 TON EXTENDED CAB
PICKUP TRUCKS TO THE LOW BIDDER, OLYMPIC FORD INC., AT
$15,326.10 EACH, FOR A TOTAL OF $82,914.21, INCLUDING SALES TAX
(AB94 -105)
Nelson moved to recommend tabling until March 8 meeting.
Motion carried unanimously.
2. BID AWARD RECOMMENDATION FOR THREE MID -SIZE SEDANS
THROUGH STATE CONTRACT #127A -93 FROM GEORGE GEE PONTIAC
AT $12,336 EACH, A TOTAL OF $42,153.68, INCLUDING SALES TAX AND
PURCHASING FEE (AB94 -107
Nelson moved to recommend tabling until March 8 meeting.
Motion carried unanimously.
3. ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 1994 BUDGET, REQUEST NO. 1 (AB94-
085)
There are three items in this Ordinance. Item #1 has been completed.
Nelson moved to recommend bringing Item #1 forward to the Council for
approval.
Motion carried unanimously.
Item #3 (mailroom staff position):
Brenner, Nat Dickinson and Nelson spoke.

Brenner moved to bring this item (3) forward without a recommendation to be
discussed by the Council.
Motion passed 2 -1 with Starkenburg against.
Item #2 (Extra Help /Paul Rushing):
Tom Sutberry; Brenner; Dan Gibson; Randy Watts; Imhof; Dawson; Nelson;
Starkenburg; Henderson; Shirley Forslof and Bob Woods spoke.
Nelson moved to recommend having before this Committee an agreed on contract
regarding the $8,333 defining the amounts, dates and times the contract is covering.
Motion passed 2 -1 with Brenner against.
Nelson moved to recommend appropriating $15,890 for extra help, of which
$7,557 is for secretarial support and of which $8,333 is restricted to be paid to Paul
Rushing under a new contract that is to be brought forward for Council approval.
Motion passed 2 -1 with Brenner against.
Brenner moved to recommend appropriating $33,331 to Courthouse Expansion
Fund Professional Services for purposes of an owner representative from March 1, 1994
and following subject to approval by the County Council.
Motion passed unanimously.
4. RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE AUDITOR TO ADVERTISE A CALL FOR
BIDS FOR THE COUNTY'S OFFICIAL DAILY NEWSPAPER (AB94 -124)
Starkenburg moved to recommend for approval to Council.
Resolution passed unanimously.
5. OTHER BUSINESS
There was no further business.
