The meeting was called to order at 10:06 a.m. by Committee Chair Barbara Brenner in the
Council Committee Room, 311 Grand Avenue.

COMMITTEE DISCUSSION
ORDINANCE AMENDING THE WHATCOM COUNTY CODE BY
CREATING CHAPTER 12.60, WHATCOM COUNTY ROAD NAMING
SYSTEM (AB96 -196)
(Clerk's Note: This meeting is a continuation from the previous meetings of
September 24 and October 8.)

Brown moved to amend on page 7, lines 1 and 3:

Motion to amend carried unanimously.
Brown moved to amend on page 7, line 12:

Brenner moved to amend on page 7, line 13, add the following sentence:

Motion carried unanimously.
Brenner moved to amend on page 9, lines 8 and 9:
"The
master

Motion carried unanimously.
Brenner suggested a subcommittee be formed consisting of the fire chiefs, Engineering,
What -Comm and interested parties regarding the accuracy of the master map. She also suggested
possible use of the services of Metro Scan in Bellevue to assist with the mapping. Discussion
followed.
Brenner moved to amend the amendment on page 9, lines 8 and 9:
"The Department shall develop a master.map of all public and private roads in

Motion carried unanimously.
More discussion followed on the above subcommittee.
Brown moved to amend on page 9, line 16:

Motion carried unanimously.
Brenner moved to amend on page 9, lines 14 and 15:

Motion carried unanimously.
Brenner moved to request the Executive to prepare a draft Request for Proposal (RFP) for
developing a master map for public and private roads in Whatcom County.
Motion carried unanimously.

Brenner moved copies of this amended ordinance be mailed to all task force members.
