The meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m. by Committee Chair Barbara Brenner in the
Council Committee Room, 311 Grand Avenue.

1. ORDINANCE AMENDING THE WHATCOM COUNTY CODE BY
CREATING CHAPTER 12.56, VICTIM MEMORIAL SIGN PROGRAM
(AB96 -285) (FROM 9/17)
(Clerk's Note: This meeting, a work session, is a continuation of the September 17
meeting.)

Russ Wester, MADD Volunteer
Ed Henken, Engineering, gave a staff report.
Topics discussed included: the option of creating one general sign policy; sign cost to
other counties; and size of signs.
Brenner moved to amend by adding language:
There was discussion on the motion.
Motion carried unanimously.
Brown moved to amend by allowing one (1) signpost per accident site with the applicants
having the option of one (1) sign per each direction or one (1) sign only.
