October 7, 1997
The meeting was called to order at 11:30 a.m. by Committee Chair Robert Imhof in the
Council Committee Room, 311 Grand Avenue.

COUNCIL "CONSENT AGENDA" ITEMS
1. REQUEST APPROVAL FOR THE EXECUTIVE TO ENTER INTO A 1997
CRUSHING CONTRACT AMENDMENT WITH AGGREGATES WEST
(AB97 -335)
Dick Prieve, Maintenance and Operations, Public Works, commented briefly regarding
the contract being 10% over budget and needing to be returned to Council.
Brown moved to recommend approval.
Motion carried unanimously.
2. REQUEST AUTHORIZATION FOR THE EXECUTIVE TO AWARD BID 97-
69 TO THE LOWEST RESPONSIVE BIDDER, PIONEER FORD, TO
PURCHASE REPLACEMENT VEHICLES IN THE AMOUNT OF $331,113.09
(AB97 -336)
Dave Wareing, Executive =s Office, reported for Administration. Topics discussed
included the length of time vehicles are kept and the criteria to upgrade vehicles. Deane
Sandell, Sheriff =s Office, explained the reasoning for requesting a sedan. He stated there is no
set criteria to replace vehicles, as many vehicles exceed the 100,000 mileage; everything is based
on the general condition of the vehicle.
Brenner moved to recommend approval.
Motion carried unanimously.
3. REQUEST AUTHORIZATION FOR THE EXECUTIVE TO AWARD BID 97-
66 TO THE LOWEST RESPONSIVE BIDDER, WESTERN POWER
EQUIPMENT, TO PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT STREET SWEEPER IN THE
Finance Minutes, 10/7/97, Page 1
AMOUNT OF $128,073 (AB97 -337)
Dick Prieve, Maintenance and Operations, reported for Public Works.
There was discussion regarding investigating the use of private contractors to perform the
sweeping. Stan Campbell, Bayside Services, distributed contractor information (on file).
Brown moved to recommend approval.
Motion carried unanimously.
4. REQUEST AUTHORIZATION FOR THE EXECUTIVE TO ENTER INTO A
LEASE ADDENDUM TO LEASE ADDITIONAL SPACE AT THE CIVIC
CENTER BUILDING TO OLYMPIC HEALTH MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS,
INC. (AB97 -338)
Dave Wareing, Executive =s Office, reported for Administration.
Brenner moved to recommend approval.
Motion carried unanimously.
