WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL
Public Works and Safety Committee
May 24, 2005
Committee Chair Barbara Brenner called the meeting to order at 1:31 p.m. in
the Council Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, Washington.

COMMITTEE DISCUSSION AND RECOMMENDATION TO COUNCIL
1. RESOLUTION DECLARING INTENT TO VACATE A PORTION OF
MOSQUITO LAKE ROAD (AB2005 -213)
Joe Rutan, County Road Engineer, stated this resolution cleans up what they
did this last winter with the road.
Brenner moved to recommend approval to the full Council.
Motion carried unanimously.
Rutan stated he would be back later with the entire process and engineer's
report.
2. RESOLUTION TO ADOPT THE WHATCOM COUNTY MULTI -
JURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN (AB2005 -228)
Neil Clement, Emergency Management Division Manager, stated he is
available for questions.
Brenner stated the plan is great. She appreciates all the work they've done.
Nelson stated the community is fortunate, given the issues going on, to have
these people on staff. It was discussed during an earlier meeting that one of the
reasons people move here is because they feel safe.
Brenner moved to recommend approval to the full Council.
Motion carried unanimously.
