COMMITTEE DISCUSSION AND RECOMMENDATION TO COUNCIL
1. REQUEST REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF THE 2008/2009 INTEGRATED
ROADSIDE VEGETATION MANAGEMENT PLAN (AS2008 -278)
Nelson asked if there are any changes.
Paul Kelly, Public Works Department, stated there aren't.
Caskey- Schreiber asked if that butterfly plant is really harmful. Kelly stated it's just
aggressive and takes over native vegetation.
Nelson asked if there are things the County can do to take action if homes don't do
maintenance. Kelly stated the owner maintenance program is for spraying.
Nelson asked if there are any problems with that program, in terms of reducing
amounts of overgrowth on the roadways.
Mary Green, Public Works Department, stated they do have problems. If residents
don't maintain the property, the County will notify the residents. If the residents continue
to not maintain the property, the County will maintain it for them. The County just goes in
to mow or spray. If there is a no -spray agreement, the County won't spray.
Caskey- Schreiber stated the staff and employees do a fabulous job. She moved
to recommend approval to the full Council.
Motion carried unanimously.
