Warc}-7Nelion;_ 30 "s"AI Also Present: Carl Weimer COMMITTEE DISCUSSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL 1. ORDINANCE REGARDING ESTABLISHMENT OF SPEED LIMITS ON BIRCH BAY AND HARBORVIEW DRIVES (AB2009 -201) Joe Rutan, Public Works Department, gave a staff report and submitted a map (on file). Caskey- Schreiber stated she prefers to change the speed limit from Selder Road to Holman to 25 miles per hour all year. The following people spoke: • Doralee Booth, 8188 Birch Bay Drive, spoke about night closure of the State park. She gave a presentation (on file) on the Speed Limit Task force recommendation. • Frank Abart, Public Works Director, stated he road in the area with a Sheriff deputy. • Eydie Berry, 8250 Birch Bay Drive, submitted and read from information (on file). Discussion included the State park night closure hindering an evacuation if something happened at British Petroleum (BP); the Birch Bay Village neighborhood's desire to increase the speed limit to 30 miles per hour all year at South Birch Point Loop Road and to 35 miles per hour on Birch Point Road; the Coast Millennium Trail; the extra travel time from a lower speed limit; the task force membership, and'; the population of Cottonwood Reach.
