CALL TO ORDER
Committee Chair Bill Knutzen called the meeting to order at 2:03 p.m. in the Council
Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, Washington.
ROLL CALL (2:03:43 PM)
Present: Ken Mann, Bill Knutzen and Barbara Brenner.
Absent: None.
Also Present: Sam Crawford.
COMMITTEE DISCUSSION
1. DISCUSSION ON FINAL AMENDMENTS TO THE PROPOSED ORDINANCE
AMENDING WHATCOM COUNTY CODE, TITLE 20, TO CLARIFY AND REVISE
THE DEFINITION AND STANDARDS OF HOME OCCUPATIONS (AB2010 -047)
Knutzen stated there is a substitute version of the ordinance (on file). He would like
to be able to help two businesses that would become noncompliant as a result of the
changes. Amend 2.84.150(A)(11).
Discussion included different types of auto repair that could be included; prohibiting
certain industries; whether existing home occupations can continue to operate, and;
complaint- driven enforcement.
Mann moved to recommend approval of the substitute version to the full Council.
Brenner suggested a friendly amendment to amend 2.84.150(A)(11), "The
following activities... and major auto body work...."
Mann did not accept the friendly amendment.

The motion carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Mann, Knutzen and Brenner (3)
Nays: None (0)
