CALL TO ORDER
Committee Chair Carl Weimer called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m. in the Council
Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, Washington.
ROLL CALL
Present: Carl Weimer, Bill Knutzen and L. Ward Nelson.
Absent: None.
Also Present: Kathy Kershner and Sam Crawford.
COMMITTEE DISCUSSION
1. DISCUSSION REGARDING A PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDING WHATCOM
COUNTY CODE, TITLE 20, TO REDUCE DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL IN ZONING
DISTRICTS WITHIN THE LAKE WHATCOM WATERSHED (AB2010 -185)
Nelson moved to recommend approval to the full Council. He asked the acreage.
Rebecca Craven, Council Policy Analyst, submitted a memo from February 5, 2010
(on file) and stated the acreage information is in her memo. The decision equates to the
moratorium table.
Discussion included potential new parcels in individual areas around the watershed;
whether the number of potential parcels in the memo is accurate; whether the property
owners intend to subdivide; whether the lots have water or sewer service, and; when the
interim moratorium will expire.
Crawford stated notify the 37 property owners of the public hearing.
The committee concurred.
Nelson amended his motion and moved to recommend to the full Council that
this ordinance be introduced this evening.
The motion carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Weimer, Knutzen and Nelson (3)
Nays: None (0)
OTHER BUSINESS
