ROLL CALL (9:33 :49 AM) Present: Carl Weimer, Sam Crawford and Barry Buchanan. Absent: None. Also Present: Barbara Brenner, Pete Kremen, and Rud Browne. COMMITTEE DISCUSSION 1. PRESENTATION BY WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE AND DISCUSSION OF THE PUGET SOUND NEARSHORE ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION PROJECT (PSNERP) (AB2015 -057) Paula Cooper, Public Works Department, introduced Theresa Mitchell, Department of Fish and Wildlife. Theresa Mitchell, Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife, submitted and read from a presentation (on file) and described the Army Corps of Engineer's general investigation process. The committee discussed whether some of the identified PSNERP projects are components of other projects; the amount of agricultural land that will be displaced; whether the 11 selected projects around Puget Sound have been prioritized; the size of the Nooksack Delta Restoration project compared to the other 10 projects around the Puget Sound; the amount of local support the Nooksack Delta Restoration project has; how the project will accommodate local landowners who are unwilling to participate; whether the Nooksack Delta Restoration project will address Nooksack River pollution; whether the State and federal program truly has the support of and has communicated and worked with the local community; getting support from the local Congressional delegation; the estimated costs of the entire Puget Sound -wide program; the estimated cost for the Nooksack Delta Restoration project; which local groups the Department of Fish and Wildlife has worked with so far, and; at what stage in the project's process they will develop the conceptual plans.
