Should the Clerk schedule a heanng7 LY/N N Requested Dale: RECOMMENDED MOTION (for final action): COUNCIL ACTION TAKEN: 2001-400 1211112001: Approved 5 -1, McShane opposed, Imhof absent, Res. #2001-067 Related File Numbers: Ordinance or Resolution Number (this item only): f�.G/ Zcol " 0(07 2004 and 2005 councilmember salaries SPONSORED BY: Consent PROPOSED BY: Clerk of the Council INTRODUCTION DATE: 12/11/01 RESOLUTION NO 2001 -067 APPROVING A SALARY SCHEDULE FOR THE WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL FOR 2004 AND 2005 WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish, several years in advance, the salaries of the Whatcom County Councilmembers; and WHEREAS, the 35th and 54th amendments to the State Constitution prevent Councilmembers from voting salary increases for themselves that will take effect during their present terms of office; and WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Charter prohibits any Councilmember from receiving a salary in excess of 15 percent of the County Executive's salary. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that the maximum compensation to be paid to individual Whatcom County Councilmembers shall be as indicated, provided that the salary paid to Councilmembers may not exceed 15 percent of the Executive's salary in any given year: For the year 2004, the salary shall be $15,500 per Councilmember (not exceed 15 percent of the Executive's salary). salary).
