Whatcom County Charter Section 4.41 states that the County Council shall appoint a Districting Committee who shall then
appoint a Districting Master to draw the districting plan for the county. This is to be done during the month of January every ten
years. This year the Districting Committee consisted of Todd Gunn, Les Reardanz, Erik Konstad, Darlene McLeod, and Henry
Bierlink (Chairperson). The District Master was Terry Unger. The Districting Committee unanimously voted to approve the
attached districting plan. The Plan was filed with the County Auditor on May 11, 2001. This ordinance amends the Whatcom
County Code Chapter 1.12 to redraw the County Council districts as approved in the 2001 Plan.
On September 14 the Districting Committee met and voted to uphold their previous decision
on the Districting Plan. The Plan has been presented to the County Auditor and is
final. The attached ordinance changes the WCC to reflect the changes made by the
Districting Committee.
