ORDINANCE NO. 79 -29
AN ORDINANCE REGARDING THE PROHIBITION
OF PARKING ALONG CERTAIN PORTIONS OF
THE MOSQUITO LAKE ROAD, STRAND ROAD AND
POTTER ROAD LOCATED IN THE ACME -SOUTH
FORK AREA OF WHATCOM COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is
authorized under R.C.W. 36.86.040 and
upon the County roads such appropriate
signs as to prohibit, stopping, standing
or parking in specified areas; and
WHEREAS, the Acme -South Fork area roads
have been subject to traffic congestion
especially in the summer months and
weekends for the purpose of traveling to
the South Fork of the Nooksack River to
participate in the recreational activity
of inner tubing; and
WHEREAS, the County finds as.a fact and
declares that an emergency exists and that
it is necessary that the parking restrictions
be continued in full force and effect; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that Parking
be Restricted as follows:
Section 1. "No Parking ": on the Mosquito Lake
Road east of SR 9 for 9/10 of a mile.
Located in Section 51 Township 37
North, Range 5 East, W.M., District 1.
Section 2. "No Parking" on the Strand Road 3/10
lof a mile West of SR 9 to the Nooksack River.
Located between Section 19 and 20
Township 38 North, Range 5 east,
W.M., District 1.

Section 3. "No Parking" on the Potter Road
3/10 of a mile west of SR 9 to a point 9/10 of a mile west.
Located between Section 17 and 18,
Township 38 North, Range 5 East,
W.M., District 1.
Section 4. Penalties. Any person who shall
violate or fail to comply with the restrictions imposed by the
provisions of this Chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor,
and shall be punished by a fine in a sum not to exceed $25.00.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineers be
and is hereby directed to post the appropriate signs and that the
Whatcom County Sheriff and the Washington State Patrol be notified
by copy of this Ordinance.
