6 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AN EMERGENCY APPRO-
PRIATION FOR 1980 SOLDIERS RELIEF FUND AS
7 PROVIDED FOR IN ARTICLE 61 SECTION 6.72 OF
THE HOME RULE CHARTER AND R.C.W. 36.40.190

9 WHEREAS, expenditures in 1980 have exceeded the antici-
10 pated and budgeted level in the Soldiers Relief Fund; and,
11 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council passed an emergency
12 Ordinance No. 80 -75 on September 18, 1980, and said ordinance was
13 signed by the County Executive and became effective on September
14 19, 1980, and said ordinance authorized an emergency appropriation
15 for the Soldiers Relief Fund which shall expire as of the sixty
16 first (61st) day following the date on which the ordinance became
17 law; and,
18 WHEREAS, there will be a continued need for expenditures
19 from this fund for the balance of 1980; and,
20 WHEREAS, the total expenditures of additional funds for
21 the Soldiers Relief Fund under the terms of the emergency Ordinanc
22 No. 80 -75 and this emergency appropriation, is not. to exceed the
23 total sum of TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS..($20,000.00); and,
24 WHEREAS, the Soldiers Relief Fund will have to operate
25 on interest - bearing warrants until the collection of taxes on the
26 adjusted levy for 1981;
27 SNOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AS FOLLOWS:
28 SECTION is The Auditor of Whatcom County shall issue
29 warrants on the Soldiers Relief Fund and charge the following
30 budget account: 0114- 0010 - 553 -60 -42 Miscellaneous Relief Fund,
31 up to the amount of TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($20,000.00). However,
32 the warrants issued herein, and the warrants issued under the
ORDINANCE - 1.

terms of emergency Ordinance No. 80- ,75,.shall not exceed the total
sum of TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($20,000.00).
SECTION 2: The Treasurer of Whatcom County is directed
11to register interest - bearing warrants on the Soldiers Relief Fund.
SECTION 3: The levy for the Soldiers Relief Fund for the
ensuing year 1981 shall be adjusted to include the additional
TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($20,000.00) plus interest thereon, at the
rate of five and one -half percent (5 1/2%) per annum.

SECTION 4: The emergency Ordinance No. 80 -75 authorizing
an emergency appropriation for the 1980 Soldiers Relief Fund is
repealed as of the effective date of this ordinance.
