ORDINANCE NO. 82-65
AN ORDINANCE REGARDING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SPEED LIMITS WITHIN
SCHOOL ZONES
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.415 to
regulate speed limits on certain county roads, and
WHEREAS, an engineering survey and evaluation was conducted, and
WHEREAS, it was found to be necessary to formally establish speed limits
within the vicinity of existing schools and a new school structure or to
update previously adopted resolutions and an ordinance regarding speed
limits within school zones,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that school zones and speed limits be set
and posted as "20 miles per hour, when children are present" in the follow-
ing locations:
Mt. Baker School District
Harmony Elementary School
Sand Road from 1000 feet north of
Kelly Road to 2000 feet south of
Smith Road, Sections 31 and 32,
Township 39 North, Range 4 East.
Mt. Baker Jr. -Sr. High
Deming Road from 250 feet west of
School & Deming Elementary
Mitchell Road to First Street and
School
Mitchell Road from State Route 542
to Deming Road, Section 36, Town-
ship 39 North, Range 4 East and
Section 31, Township 39 North, Range
5 East.
Acme Elementary School
Turkington Road from 200 feet west
to 900 feet west of Hudson Road,
Sections 6 and 7, Township 37 North,

Maple Falls Elementary
