ORDINANCE NC. 83 -107
AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE FRANCHISE OF NATIONWIDE
CABLEVISION FOR A PERIOD OF SIX (6) MONTHS
WHEREAS, on December 22, 1967 Whatcom County granted Nationwid
Cablevision a franchise to operate and maintain a cable commun'-
cation system within the unincorporated areas of Whatcom Count ;
and
WHEREAS, the aforesaid franchise was scheduled to expire on
December 22, 1982; and
WHEREAS, Whatcom County Council did by Ordinance No. 82 -96
extend the franchise of Nationwide Cablevision for a period of
one (1) year; and
WHEREAS, said extension of franchise shall expire on December
22, 1983; and
WHEREAS, Whatcom County and Nationwide Cablevision desire to
enter into a new franchise agreement, but such agreement will
not be completed prior to the December 22, 1983 expiration
date.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council
that the franchise of Nationwide Cablevision to maintain a cable
(communications system within the unincorporated areas of Whatcom
(County, originally enacted December 22, 1967, is hereby extended
for an additional period of six (6) months- commencing December 22,
1983. Provided, that in the event a new franchise agreement is
reached by the parties prior to the expiration of said six.(6)
months extension, the new agreement may be implemented at such
earlier date as may be agreed to by the parties.
The effective date of this ordinance shall be December 22, 198
