NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the following ferry rates shall become effective January 1, 1984; CASH FARES - ONE ROUND TRIP Driver/Passenger/Pedestrian 1.25 Vehicle: Under 8,001 lbs. 3.25 8,001 - 12,000 lbs. 6.50 12,001 - 20,000 lbs. 11.00 20,001 - 28,000 lbs. 15.50 28,001 - 36,000 lbs. 19.75 36,001 - 50,000 lbs. 25.25 Motorcycle 2.00 Bicycle 1.00 Children under 12 years when accompanied by an adult Free Trailer: Under 10 feet 2.25 10 - 20 feet 3.25 21 - 30 feet 5.50 31 - 40 feet 12.00 Over 40 feet 16.50 Trailers shall include, but not be limited to, ball hitches, military hitches, fifth wheel in bed of pickup, dump truck trailers, recreation trailers and mobile homes. Special Trips: 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. 15.00 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. 100.00 1:30 a.m. to 5 :30 a.m. 200.00 Heavy machinery and motor homes shall be charged at the corresponding vehicle rate. In addition, the towing vehicles shall be charged a 50% surcharge. Punchcards may be used for only one passage per trip. Unauthorized use of any punchcard or commuter pass will result in its confiscation. 1983 punchcards shall be valid through January 15, 1984. 1984 punchcards shall be valid through January 15, 1985. In the event a vehicle permit holder acquires a different vehicle and no longer wishes the original permit to be used, a duplicate may be obtained at the Whatcom County Engineer's office for a service charge of $3.00 upon the return of the original permit. No duplicate permits will be issued without the return of the original permit. Credit for 1983 punchcards purchased after October 1, 1983 may be received at the Courthouse towards purchase of 1984 punchards until January 31, 1984. Credit for 1984 punchcards purchased after October 1, 1984 may be received at the Courthouse towards 1985 punchcards until January 31, 1985. COMMUTER PASS Quarterly vehicle and driver commuter passes may be purchased for $137.50 A commuter pass allows unlimited trips for a vehicle and driver for three (3) months and shall be permanently affixed on the driver's side of the lower windshield in full view of ferry personnel. Senior Citizens, as referred to herein, are persons 65 years of age or older. Punchcards are valid only for the individual to whom issued and /or the vehicle issued only when occupied by a card - carrying Senior Citizen. Enrolled members of the Lumai Indian Tribe who are issued appropriate identification cards by the Tribe and who have legitimate tribal business ORDINANCE - 2. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 1 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 upon Lummi Island, as indicated by the Lummi Indian Tribe, shall have free foot passage upon and across the ferry operated by Whatcom County between Gooseberry Point and Lummi Island. On or before June 30 of each year, the Lummi Indian Tribe shall transmit a list of such members to Whatcom County. This list may be supplemented at any time. It is the intent of this rate schedule to recover appproximately 75% of the cost of the ferry operation, exclusive of dock maintenance and opera- tion. The Council shall review this rate schedule at its first June 1984 meeting in order to determine whether additional rate adjustments are necessary to carry out this intent.
